HIPARION DISTRIBUTION is one of the main distributors of magazines and newspapers in Romania. Each morning magazines and newspapers are delivered to ca 6000 sales outlets all over Romania, including news-stands, shops, gas stations and supermarkets.

The company was established in 1999 and since 2004 is part of the Rautakirja Group (www.rautakirja.fi), the biggest distributor and retailer of newspapers and magazines in Finland, the Netherlands and the Baltic countries with operations in Russia. Rautakirja is a subsidiary company of SanomaWSOY (www.sanomawsoy.fi), the leading media company in the Nordic region and one of the leading European magazine and educational publisher. SanomaWSOY is listed on the Helsinki stock exchange and has a market capitalization of 3.66 billion EUR. The group's net sales during 2006 was 2.74 billion EUR and operating profit 292 million EUR.

The company distributes around 350 titles and had 28 million EUR turnover in 2006. The company has 220 employees and over 100 contracted drivers and besides distribution provides also transport services. The company is using a nationwide transport system reaching on daily basis all the 40 county centers, effectuating around 600,000 km per month.
